New York — A great deal of ambiguity continues to surround the ‘Occupy Wall Street’ movement, finds a new poll by global research company Ipsos for Reuters News, as only four in ten (37%) of global citizens in 23 countries report they are familiar with the protests that were going on in New York and other major cities around the world.
As a result, it may not be surprising that half (54%) of respondents say they are undecided when asked how favourable or unfavourable they are towards the protests as far as they understand them. Of those who take a position, those in favour outweight those in opposition two to one: 33% report they are favourable and 13% are unfavourable towards the protests.

Of those, a majority (60%) say the children experienced the harrassing behaviour on social networking sites like Facebook.
Three quarters (77%) of world residents say cyberbullying needs special attention from parents and schools while a minority (23%) think cyberbullying can be handled through existing anti-bullying measures.

Washington, DC - Ipsos’ latest poll, published by Thomson Reuters on November 20th, finds that the recent Freddie Mac controversy has not impacted greatly on Gingrich’s ratings. Indeed, compared to our previous poll on the subject, Cain and Romney have both dropped off as Gingrich has moved up the ranking. Regardless of this movement, however, Romney is still the presumptive nominee among both the general public and among Registered Voter Republicans (34% among all and 42% among RV Republicans).

Washington, DC - Ipsos' latest poll, carried out on behalf of Thomson Reuters and published today, shows that the allegations of sexual harassment have indeed impacted on Herman Cain's ratings. In particular, his favorability ratings have dropped since last week, especially among Republicans: last week, 66% of Republican registered voters had a favorable opinion of Cain, and this week that number has dropped 9 points to 57%. Among all registered voters, Cain's favorability has declined 5 points, from 37% to 32%.

The ad features Cain’s Chief of Staff Mark Block, and ends with Block smoking a cigarette. It seems that the smoking scene at the end of the ad distracts notably from Cain’s message – although the ad is still seen in a positive light overall by the Tea Party base.

Washington, DC - The PA Senate race has tightened up considerably. The current survey shows the race as a dead heat at 46% apiece including undecided voters who lean towards one candidate or the others. Our August survey showed the Republican Pat Toomey with a 10 percentage point advantage among likely voters (Toomey 47% vs. Democrat Joe Sestak 37%). There are only 6% remaining who are undecided so this race will most likely continue to be hard fought until election day.

Republican Rob Portman has opened up a 13 point lead (50% to 37%) over Democrat Lee Fisher in the race to fill retiring Senator George Voinovich’s seat. Meanwhile, Governor Ted Strickland has made up ground and the race for governor of Ohio is essentially tied at 47% Kasich/46% Strickland.

Washington, DC - Ipsos' latest poll carried out for Reuters in Arkansas shows that Senator Lincoln trails her Republican opponent by 14 points (53% vs. 39%). Despite this, Senator Lincoln's ratings on a range of leadership traits have improved since our last poll in Arkansas:
- Lincoln has seen a 10-point improvement since mid-July in being seen to 'fight for Main Street over Wall Street', while Boozman has seen a drop of 4 points on this measure
- Lincoln is now seen as less likely to 'say anything to win votes' compared to the last wave (down to 40% from 48%), and Boozman has gone up on this measure from 18% to 26%
- Lincoln has gone up 4 points on being seen as a 'strong leader for Arkansas' (now on 38%), and Boozman's ratings on this have dropped from 51% to 43%

Washington, DC- A major analysis of world public opinion was released today by Ipsos— one of the world’s largest market and opinion research companies. The report, titled “Ipsos Global @dvisory: Proper Attire in the Workplace”, is based on 12,691 recent interviews in 24 countries comprising 75% of the world’s GDP. This report explores what type of attire people around the world are wearing to work, what is considered acceptable (and unacceptable) in the workplace, and whether business attire really does make an individual more productive. Washington, DC – Ipsos’ recent poll of 600 registered voters in Nevada shows that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is polling just four points ahead of his opponent Sharron Angle among likely voters. The senate race will be a very close one, and our data shows that the outcome will hinge on turnout; Republicans are far more likely than Democrats to say they are ‘certain’ they will vote this November (81% vs. 64%).

Washington, DC - Ipsos' national poll for Reuters shows that the economy is still the biggest issue for Americans, and that almost half the public (46%) are unhappy with President Obama's performance so far on this issue -- compared to a third (34%) who give him a good rating. And while half the public think he is doing well on issues like diplomacy and education, two-thirds believe he hasn't focused enough on job creation.

Washington, DC – Ipsos’ recent poll of 600 registered voters in Arkansas shows that Democrat Blanche Lincoln, who currently holds the seat, is polling far behind her Republican opponent. More than half of registered voters in Arkansas (54%) say they will vote for Republican John Boozman, and just over a third (35%) for Lincoln.

Washington, DC – Ipsos’ recent poll of 600 registered voters in Florida shows that Independent candidate Charlie Crist, current Florida Governor and a former Republican, is polling ahead of Republican Marco Rubio and either of the two possible Democrat candidates Kendrick Meek and Jeff Greene. Crist’s approval ratings as Governor are positive (53% approve / 41% disapprove of the way he is doing his job as Governor), and this popularity – as well as public frustration with the main political parties – may help him sustain this support through to November’s elections.

Johannesburg, South Africa— With the 2010 FIFA World Cup just underway, a new Reuters news poll conducted by Ipsos indicates that only 4 in 10 (37%) avid soccer* fans think the way in which the qualification structure is formatted is fair to all potential participating countries, and 2/3rds (65%) of fans say world cup event so expensive the ordinary soccer supporter can no longer participate.

New York, NY— A new Reuters News poll conducted by Ipsos and released today indicates that four in ten (37%) adults surveyed in 22 countries (representing 75% of the worlds GDP) have been to children's sports events and witnessed parents become verbally or physically abusive towards the coaches or officials. Two thirds (63%) indicate they have not witnessed this kind of abusive behaviour.

However, six in 10 (57%) disagree that money is the best sign of a person’s success.
Comparably, the survey of over 24,000 adults—1000+ respondents per country—shows that 35% of adults surveyed in the 23 countries don't agree that money is more important to them nowadays than previously and 43% believe that money is the best sign of a person's success.

NEW YORK— A new Reuters News poll conducted by Ipsos and released today indicates that of 23 countries measured--representing 75% of the worlds GDP-- 17 (or 74%) of them had citizens who assessed their country's current economic situation as "good". This compares with just eight of the same 23 countries (or 35%) where citizens assessed their country's economic situation as "good" back in April/May, 2009. This is the first sign in global collective public opinion that the economic havoc caused by the world recession in the latter part of 2008 and throughout most of 2009 may have begun turning the corner as citizens see and feel their own country’s economy improving.
