Ipsos/ Reuters Poll: South Carolina Republican Primary, January 16, 2012
Washington, D.C. - Ipsos' latest poll of South Carolina registered voters, conducted on behalf of Thomson Reuters, shows Mitt Romney with a significant lead.
With the upcoming South Carolina Republican primary a week away, Rick Santorum, Ron Paul and Newt Gingrich are in a battle for second place.
This is the first of two Ipsos/Reuters polls in South Carolina. The second and final pre-primary poll with be released Thursday, January 19.
These are findings from an Ipsos poll conducted for Thomson Reuters from January 10th – 13th, 2012. For the survey, a sample of exactly 995 South Carolina registered voters aged 18 and older were interviewed online. The survey includes 398 Republicans and 380 Democrats. The data were weighted to South Carolina current population registered voter data by gender, age, education, ethnicity and an eight item political values scale. Statistical margins of error are not applicable to online polls. All sample surveys and polls may be subject to other sources of error, including, but not limited to coverage error and measurement error. Figures marked by an asterisk (*) indicate a percentage value of greater than zero but less than one half of a per cent. Where figures do not sum to 100, this is due to the effects of rounding.
