Political Polling in Arkansas: Wave 2
Wednesday, September 22, 2010
Washington, DC - Ipsos' latest poll carried out for Reuters in Arkansas shows that Senator Lincoln trails her Republican opponent by 14 points (53% vs. 39%). Despite this, Senator Lincoln's ratings on a range of leadership traits have improved since our last poll in Arkansas:
- Lincoln has seen a 10-point improvement since mid-July in being seen to 'fight for Main Street over Wall Street', while Boozman has seen a drop of 4 points on this measure
- Lincoln is now seen as less likely to 'say anything to win votes' compared to the last wave (down to 40% from 48%), and Boozman has gone up on this measure from 18% to 26%
- Lincoln has gone up 4 points on being seen as a 'strong leader for Arkansas' (now on 38%), and Boozman's ratings on this have dropped from 51% to 43%
Democratic Governor Mike Beebe leads his Repubican opponent Jim Keet by 18 points (55% vs. 37%) in the Gubernatorial race. Beebe's approval ratings remain unchanged since the last wave of this poll -- and are quite strong with two-thirds (67%) approving of the way he is doing his job as governor.
