Online Election Day Polls: The Canadian Experience

This AAPOR paper summarizes Ipsos Reid’s innovative online Exit Day polling, which involves upwards of 40,000 online interviews among voters in a single day. We examine how a study of this magnitude is executed quickly and reliably, methodological considerations (online vs. telephone), weighting, panel bias, seat projections, and other critical factors for successfully navigating the political polling landscape. We also explore implications, lessons and considerations for political polling in the future.
